Auke Bay

Auke Bay real estate is located along Glacier Highway around Auke Bay and between the Highway and Auke Lake. This neighborhood is about 20 minutes north of downtown Juneau. This area, which enjoys spectacular views of Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay, is home to the University of Alaska Southeast. The Alaska Marine Highway System’s Juneau Ferry Terminal is also located here.

Homes for sale in Auke Bay are primarily single-family and many benefit from incredible panoramic views of Auke Bay. Homes with a waterfront location in this area tend to be at the higher end of the Juneau real estate spectrum, but more reasonably priced houses are also available further inland.

Buyers of Auke Bay real estate will enjoy the community’s spectacular natural setting. Local recreation facilities include the Auke Bay boat launch as well as Auk Rec past the ferry terminal where there are picnic areas and beaches. The area is also home to the very popular restaurants such as Chan’s Thai Kitchen, The Hot Bite, Devil’s Hideaway, and GonZo AK. Elementary school students living in this neighborhood attend the recently updated Auke Bay Elementary School. For local shopping there is Dehart’s convenience store located along Glacier Highway and more extensive shopping and entertainment options can be found nearby in the Valley.
